Vlad Batrincea, deputy speaker of the Parliament, deputy of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), stated the need for an open and “honest” discussion, noting the lack of trust in Defense Minister Anatolii Nosatii.
“And if someone does not have the honor to resign, then the Moldovan parliament should take initiatives to dismiss the responsible officials. Behind every crime there is a guilty person. We believe it is necessary to hear the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mrs. Maia Sandu, in Parliament, as we have no more expectations from Mr. Nosatii,” the MP said.
“Our Party” also proposed the creation of a parliamentary commission to investigate the circumstances of serious incidents, including deaths, suicides, injuries and other risks in the National Army and subordinate structures of the Ministry of Defense.
“All over the country we see different versions of what happened in the military unit in Cahul. In order to avoid political speculations on the death of a child, we propose to create such a commission,” said faction chairman Renato Usatii.
None of the proposals was supported by the PAS parliamentary majority.
At the same time, the chairman of the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission, Lilian Karp, said that closed hearings on the issue would be held, to which only those with access to state secrets would be allowed.
We shall remind you that on May 10, a tragic incident occurred in a military unit in the town of Cahul, as a result of which one person was killed and another injured.
