
Alexandru Munteanu praised Bulgaria’s support for our country’s European agenda and emphasized the importance of continuing this support throughout the accession negotiations across all clusters.
“Moldova and Bulgaria are bound by a strong friendship, a constructive partnership, and a shared interest in a stable and secure Black Sea region,” stated Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. “We count on Bulgaria’s continued support in the process of European integration and seek to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.”

The Bulgarian community in Moldova was a separate topic of discussion. Munteanu reaffirmed the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to protecting the linguistic and cultural identity of the Bulgarian minority, including in the context of local public administration reform.
The discussion also touched on the further development of the branch of Angel Kynchev University (Ruse, Bulgaria) in Taraclia. This project has an impact on regional development in Moldova and creates additional opportunities for young people, the Moldovan prime minister emphasized.
He thanked Bulgaria for the projects implemented in Moldova, particularly in the fields of education, infrastructure, energy efficiency, and local development. The amount of support exceeded 600,000 euros for the period 2024–2025.
The prime ministers discussed cooperation in the field of energy security. The head of the Moldovan government noted Bulgaria’s role in the Vertical Gas Corridor initiative. He emphasized that Moldova is interested in deepening cooperation in the areas of natural gas supply, storage, and regional energy connectivity, including in the context of expanding Bulgargaz’s operations in our country.
The officials also exchanged views on the security situation in the Black Sea region. They reaffirmed their shared interest in strengthening regional stability.
