The Competition Council announced that it is reviewing the transaction to assess its impact on the market. “To determine whether the economic concentration is consistent with a normal competitive environment, the antitrust authority will analyze the proposed transaction,” the agency said in a statement.

According to the documents, the retailer plans to acquire 100% of the shares of Honest Company, which operates the Merci chain. As a result of the transaction, Moldretail Group will gain full control of the business.

The regulator also called on market participants to submit their comments regarding the potential impact of the deal on competition. The timing of the deal’s completion and its value have not yet been disclosed.

It should be noted that Moldretail Group is Moldova’s largest retail operator, with an annual turnover of 14.5 billion lei. Today, the company’s store network comprises over 320 retail locations across the country. In 2025, the company employed 7,044 people, and its labor costs exceeded 1 billion lei. The company works with approximately 1,000 suppliers and is part of the Dragan Group holding company.
