Prospects for cooperation were discussed at a meeting between the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perchun, and the Secretary-General of the CEEPUS programme, Michael Schedel, and a representative of the CEEPUS Central Office in Austria, Silvia Riegler.

The parties reviewed the progress of the CEEPUS IV programme in Moldova, the results achieved in recent years and the opportunities for expanding the country’s participation in the academic exchange programme for Central European universities.

At a separate working meeting with representatives of higher education institutions, Michael Scheidl outlined the opportunities offered by the new version of the programme, including the development of international university networks and the strengthening of cooperation between higher education institutions in the participating countries.

Representatives from the State University of Moldova and the Technical University of Moldova shared their experiences of participating in the programme and provided examples of cooperation with international partners.

Scholarships for programme participants have been increased

Moldova has been participating in CEEPUS since 2011. The programme provides for academic exchanges, work placements, as well as professional and research activities in Central European countries. Students, lecturers and researchers are eligible to take part.

The CEEPUS IV Agreement, signed in Warsaw on 20 September 2023, establishes a framework for cooperation over seven years. In Moldova, its implementation is governed by Government Decree No. 137 of 25 March 2026, which came into force on 1 September 2026.

The document provides for an increase in the amount of scholarships for programme participants. According to the Ministry of Education and Research, this measure should enhance the appeal of academic exchanges and encourage foreign students, lecturers and researchers to take part in educational programmes in Moldova.
