This was stated by Deputy Parliamentary Speaker Doina German during the visit to Chisinau of a delegation of the Polish Sejm’s Foreign Affairs Commission, which takes place from May 10 to 12.

“There are 88 companies with Polish capital operating in Moldova. Poland is the largest importer of Moldovan juices, fruits and nuts. We want to expand our cooperation and attract Polish investments in seven strategic sectors of Moldova’s economy: IT, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure, energy, automotive industry and construction,” German commented on the meeting with her Polish colleagues.

According to the deputy speaker, after joining the EU, more than 120 development projects were realized on average in each commune in Poland.

“This is what the European Union means – investments, modernization and concrete projects that improve people’s lives. This is what we want for Moldova as well,” German said.

She also said that the discussions will continue within the Moldova-Poland Parliamentary Assembly, which will be held in Warsaw on June 15-17.

“Excellent political dialog”

Another important topic of the talks was the impact of the war in Ukraine on regional security and critical infrastructure. Foreign Ministry State Secretary Karolina Perebinos thanked Poland for its support in overcoming crises caused by attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including the pollution of transboundary waters of the Dniester River and problems at the hydropower complex in Novodnestrovsk.

For her part, the vice chairwoman of the Polish Sejm’s Foreign Affairs Commission, Anna Wojciechowska, reiterated that “Moldova’s place is in the European Union”.

Also, the sides welcomed “an excellent level of political dialog and sectoral cooperation between the two states”.
