Moldovan producers are seeking new partners
The exhibition is taking place in France from 17 to 21 October. The Investment Agency of the Republic of Moldova is taking part alongside food producers representing a wide range of products: bakery and confectionery products, honey, dried fruit, frozen foods, snacks, spices, juices and tinned goods.
According to the organisers of the Moldovan delegation, the initial business talks have revealed interest in the country’s products from potential partners in several regions of the world. For companies, the exhibition offers an opportunity to find new buyers, assess the requirements of foreign markets and discuss prices, logistics and delivery terms.
Representatives of Moldovan businesses highlight both the prospects for expanding exports and the ongoing difficulties associated with transport costs.
“At SIAL Paris, we’ve had a steady stream of visitors and consistent interest in our products – both juices and tinned goods. We’ve spoken to potential buyers from Japan, South Korea, the US and several European countries. Our priority remains the EU market, where the advantage lies in short delivery times – from one to three days depending on the destination,” said Konstantin Petrovich, head of the marketing and sales department at Alfa-Nistru.
According to him, high transport costs remain one of the main obstacles, as they affect the final price of the products. The company hopes to find two or three reliable partners for long-term cooperation.
Focus on new products and dried fruit
For Panilino SRL, participating in SIAL Paris was its first experience at this exhibition. The manufacturer presented new confectionery products, including individual-portion desserts, which attracted interest from potential partners from Italy, the US and other countries.
“This is our first time taking part in the exhibition, and the response from visitors exceeded our expectations. We brought new confectionery products, including individual-portion desserts, which caught the attention of potential partners from Italy, the US and other countries,” said Victor Oriol, export manager at Panilino SRL.
Nisvinex Grup, for its part, has noted interest in Moldovan dried plums and apples. According to Dorin Cibotaru, the company’s administrator and founder, negotiations took place at the exhibition with potential buyers from Morocco, Algeria and Egypt. The company is also continuing its cooperation with partners from Romania and Bulgaria and is exploring opportunities to enter the French market.
Trade fairs as a tool for export development
The Investment Agency supports the participation of Moldovan producers in international trade fairs, helping to establish business contacts and develop long-term trade partnerships.
Direct negotiations with importers and distributors enable companies to receive feedback on products, packaging, prices and delivery terms. This information helps to assess the competitiveness of goods and determine what changes may be required to enter new markets.
SIAL Paris 2026 brings together over 8,000 exhibitors from 130 countries. According to the organisers, the exhibition is expected to attract around 300,000 food industry professionals, including manufacturers, importers, distributors and representatives of the HoReCa sector.
Moldova’s participation is organised by the Moldova Fruct association in partnership with the Investment Agency, the Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund (UMAEF) and the International Trade Centre (ITC). The project has received financial support from the three partner organisations.
