Lukashenko offers Macron to lead talks with Russian Federation

Aliaksandr Lukashenka revealed to journalists some details of his recent telephone conversation with Emmanuel Macron. He called the French president the most suitable figure for dialog with Moscow, relying on his many years of political experience.

“You’re an aksakal, start moving,” Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the Belarusian news agency BELTA. He emphasized that other key European leaders, from German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, are politically much younger.

“Italy has a woman prime minister in general. What do you want to put these responsibilities on a woman?” – Belarusian agency transmits the conversation between the two presidents, referring to the candidacy of Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Meloni.

Recall, the conversation between Lukashenko and Macron was held on May 24 at the initiative of the French side. The Belarusian president did not confirm the version, appeared in the media, that Macron called to warn him against entering the war.

About the peace dialog and Belarusian potassium

In the context of possible negotiations, Alexander Lukashenko told reporters about the French colleague’s request to receive his confidant in Minsk.

Lukashenko agreed: “In a few days – Monday-Tuesday – this man will be here. And we’ll have a serious talk with him, I’ll tell him all the problems that exist in detail.

Answering the journalists’ question about the export of potash fertilizers to the West, the President stressed that Belarus had reoriented the supply of fertilizers and in general had no problems.

“The markets have already been reoriented,” he said. – Of course, it would be nice if, as before, we loaded this potash in Lithuania. It would be even higher margins. Well, they don’t want to meet us, so we load it in Russia. So it’s not a problem.
