Greece has entered the 2026 tourist season with rising demand and prices

Greece’s tourism sector is entering the new summer season amid strong demand for vacations and continued growth in accommodation prices. According to data from the analytics firm AirDNA, demand for short-term rentals in the country has risen by 9.3% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the average rental price during the high season reached €174 per night, compared to €113 during the low season—a 55% increase, reports the Greek Reporter.

The most significant price increases have been observed in popular island destinations. For example, on Mykonos, the average cost of summer rentals reaches €758 per night.

According to industry research, early bookings for the 2026 summer season have increased by approximately 14–15% compared to last year. The largest increase is observed for the June–August period.

As noted by Greek Trip Planner, in the first quarter of 2026, revenue from international tourism rose by 64.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching €1.68 billion.

Tour operators report that rising prices are one of the main factors driving competition in the Mediterranean tourism market. Published industry reviews indicate that Greece remains one of the most expensive destinations for a number of European markets, including Germany.
