The new four-door Luce (from Italian – “light”) is capable of reaching speeds of up to 310 km/h. Its cost is estimated to exceed 500,000 euros, which places the model in the ultra-premium segment, writes Reuters.
The design was developed by LoveFrom, a studio founded by former Apple chief designer Jony Ive, which determined the model’s atypical Ferrari appearance.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna continues to implement the electrification strategy, including investments in new production facilities in Maranello. At the same time, the company has adjusted its targets: the share of all-electric models by 2030 has been reduced to 20% from the previously announced 40%.
The launch of Luce comes against the backdrop of cooling expectations in the segment of electric sports cars. As analysts point out, Ferrari views the model more as a technological and image statement than as a mass-market product. The company has already postponed the launch of a second electric model until at least 2028 amid weak demand.
Competitors are also reviewing strategies. Lamborghini has abandoned plans to launch an all-electric supercar by 2030.
Analyst Felipe Munoz said Luce reflects Ferrari’s desire to define the luxury electric car segment before competition intensifies from Chinese manufacturers, including BYD, which are already developing high-performance electric models.
The company emphasizes that a key challenge remains maintaining the brand’s signature DNA of design, driving experience and emotional response. New technological solutions, including artificially enhanced sound and vibration response systems, are being used to achieve this.
