Economic crime is on the rise in Moldova

In 2025, 23,118 crimes were registered in Moldova, 1,481 cases or 6.02% less than a year earlier.

These data were presented to the acting attorney general, Alexandru Machidon.

However, the overall positive dynamics hides alarming signals: the number of especially grave crimes increased by 45, grave crimes – by 109, and crimes of medium gravity – by 77.

The growth is especially noticeable in the sphere of economic and organized crime: cases of counterfeiting were registered by 83.82% more than a year earlier; tax evasion by 61.11%. The number of crimes committed by organized groups has also increased – almost 49%. Property crimes remain the most common – they account for 35% of the total number.

The main center of criminal activity is Chisinau – 30,7% of all cases.
