
According to the Ministry of Finance’s report, in the first 3 months of 2026, the total state budget revenues amounted to 18,442.5 million lei, including taxes and fees – 18,256.3 million lei, and revenues from projects financed from external sources – 186.2 million lei.
At the same time, the revenues administered by the State Tax Service increased by 15.4%, while the revenues administered by the Customs Service increased by 5.5%. Although the level of revenues of these two agencies is approximately the same: 9,703.2 million lei versus 9,605.0 million lei, respectively.
At the same time, the revenues from projects financed from external sources increased during the analyzed period by 74 million lei, increasing by 66.0%.
VAT and excise tax refunds also increased by 29.3%, amounting to 1,429.3 million lei.
The amount of transfers increased by 1 billion lei
The state budget expenditures and non-financial assets amounted to 21,535.5 million lei. The growth of this indicator in the first quarter of this year was mainly due to an increase in the amount of transfers to other budgets – components of the national public budget. It amounted to about 1 billion lei.
The state budget execution at the end of March 2026 ended with a deficit of 3,093.0 million lei. It was financed from internal sources in the amount of 7,015.4 million lei, external sources (3,081.1 million lei), as well as changes in the cash balance (-7,003.5 million lei).
