According to Bloomberg, the visit of the special envoy of the American president Steve Whitkoff to Russia this week may contribute to this decision. This visit was previously announced by Donald Trump himself. According to him, the special envoy will arrive on August 6 or 7.
The Kremlin did not rule out that Whitkoff might meet with President Putin, but declined to comment in more detail.
It should be noted that the ultimatum set by Trump to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine expires this week. According to the US president, if a ceasefire is not reached by August 8, the USA will impose new sanctions against Russia.
