Azerbaijan may become a platform for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

Ukraine is ready to hold trilateral talks with Russia on the territory of Azerbaijan on condition of "Russia's readiness for diplomacy". Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during his working visit to Azerbaijan on 25 April.

At a joint press conference with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev press conference in the city of Gabala, Vladimir Zelensky emphasized the high role of Baku as a mediator.

“We shared with the President of Azerbaijan that we are ready for trilateral negotiations. We had such negotiations in Turkey, we had such negotiations with our American partners in Switzerland. Of course, we are ready for the nearest negotiations in Azerbaijan, if Russia is ready for diplomacy,” the Ukrainian president said.

As reported press service of the Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Zelensky held meetings in one-on-one and extended format.

“During the conversation, the previous meetings between the head of our state and Volodymyr Zelensky were noted with satisfaction, confidence was expressed that the visit of the Ukrainian President to our country will create a good opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation. The sides exchanged views on expanding cooperation in many areas, including in the energy sector, discussed issues of cooperation in agriculture, touched upon the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission,” the press release of the Azerbaijani leader said.
