The immunization process will be done manually – by distributing baits by ANSA veterinarians and hunting fund managers, representatives of forestry companies, and members of the Hunters and Fishermen Society.
The agency addresses the country’s residents with the following recommendations:
- During the two weeks following the bait distribution, strict supervision of dogs and cats is recommended. Their free access to vaccination sites should be restricted to prevent them from consuming baits intended for foxes. Although the vaccine is intended solely for wildlife (but it is not harmful to dogs or cats if accidentally consumed).
- If you find an undamaged bait in an area where there are no children or pets, leave the bait in place.
- If you find bait in an area where children or pets are present: protect your hands with gloves and, using a plastic bag, remove the bait and place it in a wooded area.
- If you find a bait whose packaging has been opened, damaged or destroyed: protect your hands with gloves, place the bait in a plastic bag and notify a veterinarian to retrieve the bait.
