ANSA inspectors sampled the product at the border – in accordance with the national plan for monitoring nitrate residues and pesticide residues in imported food of plant origin. Laboratory analyses showed that this batch of rice exceeded the maximum allowable residues of the pesticidetriciclazol (triciclazol).

The non-compliant consignment was placed under official control. According to the importer’s decision, the entire consignment was destroyed.

The procedure of rice destruction took place under strict supervision of ANSA inspectors. In a statement on its official website, the agency guarantees that “not a single kilogram of the rice in question has reached the trade or consumers in the Republic of Moldova”.
