The idea of creating a fund to guarantee wage payments so that people could get the money they earned even if the company they worked for goes bankrupt, similar to the loan guarantee fund in the banking sector, is being worked on.

The concept of the fund was developed by local specialists together with experts from the European Commission.

Consultations have already taken place in Chisinau, after which a preliminary draft of the mechanism appeared.

The initiative envisages the introduction of special contributions to fill the fund.

According to Mihai-Gabriel Ciobanu, State Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the document has yet to be finalized and discussed at the government level.

The document is supposed to be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova for testing by July and then to the European Commission for consultations.

The authorities expect to adopt the law on the creation of the fund by the end of this year.
