“This festival is part of this year’s series of events celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and celebrates the spirit of freedom, innovation and opportunity that defines our country. Today we are pleased to present an all-American selection of food, music, sports, movies and even cars, celebrating American culture and innovation that has inspired the world for two and a half centuries,” said U.S. Charge d’Affaires to Moldova Nick Petrovich at the opening of the event.
He noted that the U.S. has been with Moldova since its independence, cooperating in areas such as economic development, cybersecurity, refugee assistance, justice reform and border security.
“Together, we are building a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future for our countries. An example is our $130 million support for the Liberty Line, a high-voltage transmission line that will connect the Straseni and Gutinas substations. It will strengthen Moldova’s energy security and provide opportunities for American companies,” said Nick Petrovich.
The festival was full of the diversity of U.S. involvement in Moldova’s daily life. There were tents dedicated to the North Carolina Partnership Program, the Peace Corps, U.S. government exchange programs and law enforcement assistance. At a special booth, one could learn in detail about immigration opportunities in the U.S. for Moldovan citizens.
The event concluded with a dynamic concert by the Touch’n Go Rock Band, a rock ‘n’ roll team created by members of the U.S. Air Force. (In Chisinau, they were joined by Cristea Aldea Teodorovic).
After the concert, the movie “Treasures of the Nation” with Nicolas Cage was shown. It was shown with Romanian subtitles in Chisinau and Balti, and with Russian subtitles in Comrat.
