At the start of the cabinet meeting, the prime minister emphasized that the standards of professionalism and institutional loyalty within this strategic agency must be higher than anywhere else.

“Based on the results of recent inspections and analysis of information, I have concluded that the Control Service no longer enjoys the trust necessary to perform these functions. I am informing you that the members of the Control Service have resigned, effective as of this morning. Public office is not a privilege. It entails responsibility. And when the trust necessary to fulfill one’s duties is lost, the right decision is to implement changes. Which is exactly what we are doing. Since we are talking about professionalism and integrity in our work, I have zero tolerance for violations of these principles. And I ask all of you to continue working in this direction,” the prime minister emphasized.

The agency consisted of two employees: Vasile Bolduratu and Angela Rojcov-Ciofu.

The Prime Minister’s Control Service is a specialized unit within the State Chancellery. It does not have legal entity status and reports directly to the prime minister. Its tasks include monitoring, evaluating, and overseeing how ministries, government agencies, and subordinate state bodies implement laws, public policy, and directives from the executive branch leadership. The agency has the authority to conduct scheduled and unannounced inspections and is required to directly notify law enforcement agencies if any violations are detected.

A coincidence?

This measure followed the resignation of Dumitru Vangeli from his post as director of “MoldATSA,” the state-owned enterprise responsible for airspace use and air traffic control.

Vangeli had previously been suspended from his post following a high-profile journalistic investigation. Journalists cast doubt on the accuracy of his resume, specifically regarding his training at an aviation school in Canada and his professional experience as a pilot for Air Canada. In response to an official inquiry, the Canadian airline denied these claims, stating that it had no information regarding Dumitru Vangeli’s employment or work at the company.
