Will the 50 million lei drought compensation fund be divided among 345 farmers?

Between May 25 and June 22, 2026, the Agency for Agricultural Interventions and Payments (AIPA) received 345 applications from agricultural producers for financial assistance in the form of partial compensation for corn and sunflower crop losses caused by the severe drought in 2025. With this, AIPA has concluded the application period.

Of the total number mentioned above, 213 applications were submitted to the AIPA regional office in Keușen, 65 to the agency’s office in Cahul, 43 to the ATO in Gagauzia, and 24 in Chișinău. Currently, AIPA office staff are reviewing the documents submitted by farmers to determine the total area of farmland eligible for this state financial support measure for agricultural producers.

The amount of financial payments per hectare of lost crops will be determined after the assessment and authorization of all submitted applications are completed.

To implement this support measure, 50 million lei were allocated from the National Fund for Agricultural and Rural Development.
