Customs officials conducted an inspection at a car dismantling facility located in Ketrosu, Anenii Noi District.

As a result, 13 vehicles were identified whose legal period of stay in Moldova’s customs territory had expired and which had been sent for disposal, constituting a violation of customs legislation.

The vehicles were seized and placed in storage, and the investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances and identify those involved.

The violators face administrative sanctions for failing to comply with customs regulations.

The Customs Service reminds the public that vehicles with foreign license plates may remain in Moldova’s customs territory under the temporary importation regime for up to 180 days per year, without the right to dispose of them or transfer them for scrapping.

Failure to comply with the temporary importation period results in administrative sanctions in the form of a fine ranging from 4,200 to 65,000 lei, depending on the length of the delay for each vehicle, as well as the obligation to pay import duties.
