The data were presented at the international scientific and practical conference “Current Issues in Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology,” which brought together more than 200 doctors from the Republic of Moldova and more than 20 international experts from eight countries in Chisinau. The event brought together specialists from Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Germany, and Ukraine, serving as a platform for the exchange of experience and best practices between experts from Moldova and abroad.

Participants discussed the latest trends and technologies in the field of cardiovascular surgery, including valve surgery, interventional cardiology, aortic surgery, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and the treatment of congenital heart defects.

According to Health Minister Emil Cheban, cardiovascular surgery in the Republic of Moldova has developed significantly in recent decades, evolving from limited resources and institutional capacity to the performance of complex procedures that meet modern standards of quality and safety.

“This progress is the result of the work of several generations of specialists who have contributed to the development of this medical field, as well as international cooperation, which has supported the continuous modernization of the sector,” Cheban noted.

The head of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Chief Cardiac Surgeon of the Ministry of Health, Doctor of Medical Sciences Aureliu Batrynac, noted that today the country has highly qualified specialists, significant achievements, and a young generation that looks confidently toward the future.
