This was reported by Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai, whose remarks were quoted by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.
According to the source, the parties discussed issues related to Iranian oil exports and the possible unfreezing of Tehran’s frozen assets. They also discussed technical mechanisms for monitoring shipping in the Strait of Hormuz region.
Bagai clarified that Tehran refused to continue the four-party meeting with U.S. participation in Switzerland following the publication of “threatening statements” by the American side. Despite this, technical working groups will continue their work.
Within the next 18 hours, the mediators—Qatar and Pakistan—are to prepare a document setting forth the agreements reached.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reported on social media platform X that oil exports and the unfreezing of Iranian assets were discussed during the talks in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.
According to a joint statement by Qatar and Pakistan, the parties also agreed to establish a conflict resolution mechanism involving the mediators to monitor the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon, IRIB reports.
The Al Mayadeen TV channel claims that strong statements were made during the talks: the Iranian side demanded an apology from U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon. In response, according to these reports, warnings about a possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz were discussed.
It should be noted that the negotiations included U.S. representatives—Vice President J.D. Vance, Presidential Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff and Jared Kushner—as well as an Iranian delegation led by Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
