Ion Dodon, Director General of the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), Ion Dodon, stated in an interview with Logos Press that the institution he heads currently manages 14 information systems, which are to be integrated with the future Electronic Patient Record.
Among the systems used by CNAM are e-Rețeta, launched in April 2024, the “Compulsory Health Insurance” Information System, designed to track insured and uninsured individuals, as well as platforms for monitoring medical services and treatment cases.
“The concept for the future system is currently being developed by the Ministry of Health. We are participating by providing proposals and insights based on our experience in managing the digital and financial aspects of the healthcare sector,” noted Ion Dodon.
According to him, the Electronic Patient Card is also of great importance in the context of the Republic of Moldova’s rapprochement with the European Union, including for the potential exchange of medical data between countries.
It should be noted that the current fragmentation of information systems and registries in the healthcare sector underscores the need to create an integrated, interoperable, and secure system. The implementation of the electronic health record is aimed at ensuring controlled access to medical data, supporting clinical and administrative decision-making processes, and improving the efficiency of the healthcare system.
