According to Newsgeorgia, the winning bidder was Glory Textile Industry, a company registered in Georgia just three months ago and owned by a Chinese citizen; the uniforms will be manufactured at a factory in China.

The Georgian Ministry of Education reported that the company will supply the uniforms by the 2026–2027 school year. According to the ministry, the contract calls for the production of 1.8 million pieces of clothing.

The return of mandatory school uniforms remains the most notable aspect of the educational reform initiated by the “Georgian Dream” government, Newsgeorgia reports. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, a uniform national standard for school attire in Georgian schools virtually disappeared, surviving only in a few private educational institutions.

Now, wearing a school uniform in Georgia will be mandatory for students in grades one through six.
