It is based on the following principle: When the environment is affected, intervention should not be limited to simply identifying the problem. Environmental damage must be properly assessed, and measures to remedy it must be implemented in a clear and coordinated manner.
State Secretary Alena Rusnack emphasized that the new mechanisms provide the responsible agencies with practical tools to respond more effectively to impacts on water, soil, biodiversity, or natural habitats.
During the training, participants analyzed how to respond to environmental impacts: how to identify a problem, determine the extent of the damage, and what measures to take to remedy it.
At the same time, a draft Guide on the Application of Criteria for Assessing and Remediating Environmental Damage was presented, and participants formulated proposals and recommendations for the effective implementation of the new procedures.
Representatives from the Ministry of the Environment, the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, and the Environmental Protection Agency participated in the training.
