The minister congratulated the new attaché on his appointment and wished him success in fulfilling his mandate. At the same time, the head of the Defense Ministry thanked his predecessor, Colonel James Crison, for his contribution to strengthening bilateral cooperation and his ongoing support for assistance projects for the National Army.

During the discussions, the parties addressed the security situation in the region and current challenges, and reviewed efforts to modernize the defense sector with the support of U.S. partners. The Minister of Defense emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries, noting that U.S. assistance plays a key role in the process of democratic reforms in the security sector and in the capacity-building of the National Army.

As a reminder, the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau recently officially announced the appointment of Amy Ngai as the mission’s new press secretary.

In addition, on June 1, the administration of President Donald Trump officially nominated Joseph Burkhalter for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized the importance of the diplomat’s experience in the business sector for strengthening economic relations between the two countries. Before officially taking office in Chisinau, the nominee must undergo a confirmation process during Senate hearings.
