The defense package, awarded by Romanian authorities on May 29 under the European Union’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) program, is the largest international contract in Rheinmetall’s recent history, the company said in a statement.

Under the agreement, Rheinmetall will supply Romania with 298 Lynx combat vehicles, Skyranger air defense systems, medium caliber ammunition, two patrol vessels and two diving support vessels.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028 and be completed by 2030.

According to the press release, more than 50 percent of production will be done in Romania or in cooperation with local companies.
