
This is one of the main messages of the 5th National Report on the implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, submitted by the Republic of Moldova, said the Ministry of Environment.
The information of the ministry emphasizes that products obtained through modern biotechnology, such as feed containing genetically modified soybeans or corn, food products with ingredients from genetically modified organisms or microorganisms used under controlled conditions, should be tested, authorized and safely used in order to protect human health, environment and biodiversity.
The document reflects the progress of the Republic of Moldova in the field of biosafety, including the development of the legislative framework, exchange of information between institutions, strengthening of control capacities and cooperation with national and international partners.
For citizens, this report means more security, more transparency and better protection of health and the environment, the ministry said.
