This is envisaged by the draft law on environmental payments and taxes. On 13 May, the Ministry of Environment organized public consultations on the document. The event was attended by representatives of economic entities, business associations and civil society, who expressed their opinions and proposals on the new rules.
The draft provides for the revision of environmental taxes, including taxes on air emissions, water discharges, waste management, use of natural resources and products that pollute the environment. At the same time, new instruments such as a carbon tax, a tax on single-use plastic products and taxes for failure to meet waste collection and recycling targets are introduced.
The project aims to reduce pollution, improve environmental quality and utilize natural resources more efficiently. It promotes the transition to a circular economy and creates financing mechanisms for environmental and climate change projects.
