The new U.S. counterterrorism strategy approved by Donald Trump presents Europe as an “incubator of terrorism” fueled by mass migration. The document emphasizes that despite their status as key partners, many states in the region have become logistical bases for extremists.
“It is unacceptable that rich NATO allies serve as financial, logistical and recruitment centers for terrorists,” Euronews quotes the text of the strategy.
The document separately emphasizes the role in this process of migration, which the authors of the strategy call uncontrolled in conditions of visa-free transit.
“It is clear to everyone that well-organized hostile groups take advantage of open borders and the globalist ideals associated with them. The more this alien culture develops and the longer the current European policy persists, the more terrorism will be guaranteed,” the strategy writes.
The authors of the document note that Europe has a chance to change the situation if it “recognizes the reality of the threat” and begins to act. Washington calls on allies to revise the approach to the admission of foreigners, security in general and strengthen border control as soon as possible.
