According to European Council President António Costa, consultations are already underway in Brussels with the leaders of all 27 EU countries on how the union can be involved in a potential negotiation process with Moscow, meduza co quoted the Financial Times as saying.

“I am discussing with European leaders how to organize our work and what issues will need to be raised in dialogue with Russia when the right moment comes for it,” Costa said.

He also recalled that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the April EU summit in Cyprus called on European partners to be ready for constructive participation in future negotiations.

At the same time, the EU emphasizes that it does not intend to interfere in the diplomatic contacts mediated by the USA. However, according to European officials, Brussels has so far seen no signs of Moscow’s readiness for a full-fledged dialog with the EU.

Against the background of the delay in the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine, European capitals are becoming increasingly concerned that the key parameters of a possible settlement may be discussed without the participation of the EU. According to the FT, there is growing frustration in the EU over the fact that the union is effectively left out of the future architecture of the negotiations.
