Dutch athlete Jutta Leerdam became the best skater in the 1,000-meter speed skating competition. She set an Olympic record and surpassed compatriot Femke Kok and 2022 Olympic champion Takagi Miho of Japan, Logos Press reported.

In normal jumping (K-98), Germany’s Philipp Raimund was unrivaled. On the sum of two jumps he scored 274.1 points – three more than the result of Kacper Tomasiak from Poland. The bronze medal went to two athletes – athletes from Switzerland and Japan.

Swiss alpine skier Franjo von Allmen became the first athlete at the 2026 Olympics to win two gold medals. On the first day of the Games, he became the Olympic champion in downhill, and on the third day he won the gold medal in the team combination in a pair with his compatriot Tanguy Nef. Tandems from Austria and Switzerland shared second place. It is noteworthy that it was decided not to award bronze medals to anyone.

Another, third gold medal for the Swiss team was won by freestyle skier Mathilde Gremaud. She was unrivaled in the slopestyle discipline. She became the first woman in Olympic history to defend her title in one of the freestyle disciplines for the first time in more than 30 years.

As at the Beijing Games in China four years earlier, Gremo defeated China’s Eileen Gu for the Olympic gold medal. They were joined on the podium by Canada’s Megan Oldham.

The third day of the Olympics became effective for the Japanese team. Snowboarder Kokomo Murase became the best in the Big Air discipline. She snatched the gold medal from her rival in the last jump. Zoe Sadowsky-Synott from New Zealand won silver and Yoo Seung Eun from South Korea bronze.

Norway is in the lead

The Norwegian team leads in the team medal standings after three days of competition. The Norwegians have three gold, one silver and two bronze medals. The Swiss team is in second place with three gold, one silver and one bronze medal. Japan with two gold, two silver and three bronze medals completes the top three.

The XXV Winter Olympic Games are being held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in northern Italy from February 6 to 22. About 2.9 thousand athletes from 93 countries are taking part in them. Moldova is represented by six athletes, one of whom is a reserve.

During 17 days, 116 sets of medals in eight sports (16 disciplines) will be played at the Olympics.
