The transaction was approved by the CC, which determined that it will not affect the competitive environment in Moldova.

Moldcell will acquire 100% of the shares of Accent Electronic, obtaining sole control over the company. The antimonopoly authority found that the transaction complies with the legal notification thresholds, but does not create significant risks for competition on relevant markets in IT and electronic equipment.

The Competition Council specifies that it assessed the overlap between the two companies’ activities in the retail and wholesale segments of computing equipment, peripherals, portable communication equipment and software.

The analysis focused on the retail and wholesale market of hardware and software throughout the Republic of Moldova, segmented by the following product categories: computing devices, peripherals, portable communication devices, and software and licenses.

Based on the analysis performed, the Competition Council concluded that the implementation of the proposed economic concentration operation is unlikely to distort the competitive environment.

Moldcell is the second largest mobile operator in Moldova. Since 2020, it is part of the Irish group GC CELL Technologies DAC. In 2024, its revenues amounted to 1.5 billion lei. Net profit reached 94.3 million lei.

Accent Electronic is a major distributor of technology. According to public sources, in 2024 its revenues exceeded MDL 412 million and its net profit reached MDL 13.1 million.
