The incident with the contaminated dill has been repeated

Laboratory analyses revealed an excess of the maximum allowable pesticide penconazole. This occurs when producers fail to follow good agricultural practices, namely exceeding phytosanitary doses and accelerated crop removal, the agency explains.

The endangered products were detained in time and did not reach store shelves or consumers. The entire lot was liquidated under the supervision of the agency’s inspectors.

Earlier, at the end of 2025, ANSA had already destroyed similar batches of greens (dill and parsley) due to the presence of elevated pesticide levels. Incidents with imported dill and other greens in Moldova have become systemic due to several key factors.

Despite fines and loss of goods, some importers continue to purchase cheap products without proper verification of quality certificates in the countries of origin.

The recurrence of destruction cases (November 2025, December 2025, and February 2026) is directly linked to ANSA’s implementation of an enhanced border inspection regime. The agency has begun sampling more frequently as part of its national monitoring program, which allows it to detect irregularities that may have previously gone undetected.

The same substances are found in different shipments: penconazole, propiconazole, cresoxim-methyl and novaluron. This indicates that foreign producers massively use these fungicides and insecticides to preserve the marketable appearance of greens during transportation, ignoring safety standards.

Thus, the “recurrence of the incident” is not a coincidence, but the result of ANSA’s stricter filtering of the poor-quality imports that continue to flow into the country.
