Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban has confirmed that power has been cut off in most sectors of Chisinau. “We urgently gathered responsible persons to assess the situation and connect generators where necessary.
We urge the police to go to intersections and regulate traffic where traffic lights are not working, and to provide explanations of the situation to the responsible officers. In many neighborhoods, trolley buses are not running. We ask citizens to remain calm,” Ceban noted.
There is evidence that the electricity failure occurred due to icing and breakage of the LER. The National Crisis Management Center reported that electricity is out in many parts of the country.
