Chadir-Lunga to save on street lighting through panels

The Mayor's Office of Ceadir-Lunga municipality in ATU Gagauzia has launched a park of solar panels with a capacity of 330 kW and placed on an area of 1 hectare, which will help to save up to 600 thousand lei per year by reducing the costs of street lighting, reports Logos Press.

Anatoliy Topal, the mayor of the municipality, emphasized that the new alternative energy capacities will cover up to 60% of the electricity demand for street lighting.

The project was financed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development through the Office of Local and Regional Development in the amount of 5 million lei. The contribution of the Ceadir-Lunga Mayor’s Office amounted to 330 thousand lei.

“The efficient use of alternative energy, mainly solar energy, has become one of the priorities in the work of the local authorities of Ceadir-Lunga municipality, which allows reducing energy costs, saving budgetary funds and contributing to environmental protection,” said Anatol Topal.

In recent years, the Ceadir-Lunga Municipality, with the support of external partners, has implemented several projects in the field of alternative energy, through which several public institutions, the local business incubator and the Municipality building itself were equipped with solar panels.
