In a statement, Nichita emphasized that the decision was made “after long deliberation and motivated by the desire to focus on family and her athletic career.”

“Recently, I have been trying to simultaneously combine the role of a mother, the role of an athlete who still dreams of Los Angeles 2028, and the responsibility of the position of deputy. I wanted to be everywhere and for everyone. But the truth is simple and painful: no matter how strong we are, it is impossible to be in all places at the same time,” Anastasia Nichita reported.

According to her, the work of a deputy requires full involvement, which at the moment she cannot fully provide.

“The position of deputy requires full involvement, absolute dedication and energy, which at the moment I can not provide in the way that the people who elected me deserve. Out of respect for you, for this position and for the country, I cannot and do not want to remain only formally, without full dedication,” Nichita emphasized.

According to the Electoral Code of the Republic of Moldova, if a deputy elected on a party list folds the mandate ahead of time, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) transfers the mandate to the next candidate from the list of the same party.
