Thus, Eugeniu Osmochescu, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, commented on the fact that the World Bank raised the forecast of Moldova’s economic growth in 2025 to 2.9%.
“We remain optimistic because all the figures that have been projected by the World Bank, the IMF, the European Union and us are about the same. They do not diverge much. We remain on the same positions. We are waiting for the final figures for 2025, and in the near future we will present already concrete data on economic growth for the whole year,” Osmochescu said.
He noted that there are objective factors that determine growth:
“We do not aim to operate with figures that would raise expectations, but we also want to be realistic. Depending on how 2026 will develop, there are certain objective factors, and we will see the growth that will be recorded.”
We shall remind you that on Tuesday, the World Bank published the World Economic Outlook report, in which it improved the growth forecast for Moldova’s economy. According to the WB estimates, the country’s GDP will grow by 2.9 percent in 2025, 2.7 percent in 2026 and 3.8 percent in 2027.
Overall, the WB expects the world economy to grow by 2.6% in 2026 and by 2.7% in 2027.
