The number of voters in Moldova continues to grow

According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), as of January 2, 2026, there are 3,299,794 people registered in RSA. Of these, 2,763,719 are assigned to administrative-territorial units, and the rest are Moldovan citizens without residence registration (258,440 people) and residents of the left bank of the Nistru River (277,635 people).

For comparison, in January 2025 there were 3,298,741 people in the State Register of Voters, in 2024 – 3,296,783, and at the beginning of 2023 – 3,294,050 people.

Thus, in four years, the total number of voters increased by 5,744.

The increase in the number of voters is most likely due to the fact that RSA is linked to the State Population Register (RSP), which takes into account all Moldovan citizens, foreigners and stateless persons in and outside the country and is constantly updated. At the end of December 2025, there were 4,065,795 people in the RSP, which is almost 35,000 more than a year earlier.

The State Register of Voters serves to record all Moldovan citizens with the right to vote and to form on its basis accurate lists of voters for elections, assigning each person to a specific polling station.
