Russian pipeline fuel supplies to Europe peaked in 2018-2019, when annualized exports reached 175-180 billion cubic meters, specifies RBC.
Exports of Russian pipeline gas to Europe in 2025 fell by 44% and reached the lowest level since the early 1970s, Reuters calculated on the basis of data from the European gas transportation group Entsog. The publication linked this to the termination of the agreement on the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, as well as the fact that the EU is gradually reducing fuel imports from Russia.
“Turkish Stream” is the only transit route for Russian gas exports to Europe left after Kiev refused to extend its transit agreement with Gazprom. The previous agreement expired on January 1, 2025. In addition to Turkey, Serbia, Hungary and Slovakia receive gas via Turkish Stream.
Russia also exports gas to Europe in liquefied natural gas (LNG) by tankers and is the second largest gas supplier to the EU after the United States, Reuters recalls.
