The Moldovan Football Federation (FMF) announced that UEFA will allocate €3.29 million (€411.25 thousand per club) in 2026 to the eight Superleague clubs that participated in the first phase of the championship (Petrocub, Zimbru, Sheriff, Milsami, CSF Bălți, Dacia-Buiucani, Politehnica-UTM and Spartanii-Sportul). The FMF recommended them to give up to 15% of the calculated amount to the six second division clubs that passed the UEFA licensing procedure in June out of solidarity.
The joint meeting of the beneficiary clubs of the solidarity payments voted and decided to allocate 10% of the total solidarity payments to the six Ligue 1 clubs (FC Stăuceni, Real Sireți, FCM Ungheni, Iskra, Univer and Oguz). According to the UEFA distribution system, each of these clubs will be allocated €27.4 thousand, while the budgets of the Super League Phase I participants will be supplemented by €390 thousand. This decision has been sent to the FMF Executive Committee for approval.
Earlier this year Logos Press reported that the FMF Executive Committee approved a new scheme of distribution of UEFA solidarity payments of €486 thousand to clubs that did not participate in the group stages of European competitions (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League) in the season-2024/25. The decision to split the payments between Super League clubs (€59,882 each) and Ligue 1 clubs (€6,075 each) was provisionally reversed, after which second division clubs were excluded from the beneficiaries.
Additionally, Moldovan clubs received almost €5 millionfrom UEFA to invest in projects for the development of soccer schools/academies (training of young players, infrastructure, equipment). The vast majority of Super League clubs received €594 thousand each, while Ligue 1 clubs received €66.7 thousand each.
UEFA allocates solidarity payments to European clubs that do not participate in the group tournaments of European competitions to ensure their financial sustainability and further participation in professional tournaments. For the period from 2024 to 2027 it is envisaged to increase the solidarity payments from 4% to 7% of the organization’s projected revenue threshold of €4.4 billion.
