The average monthly gross salary in the economy in the third quarter of 2025 amounted to 15,487.8 lei. At the same time, its size remained practically unchanged (+0.1%), compared to the second quarter of the year. The National Bureau of Statistics publishes quarterly data on the calculation of the index of average monthly gross wages and the average number of employees in the organizations of the real and budgetary sectors of the economy.
In the budgetary sector, in the third quarter, the average monthly salary amounted to 12,963.5 lei (10.5% more than in the third quarter of 2024), while in the real sector – 16,336.1 lei (9.5% more than in the third quarter of 2024).
Remaining generally at the same level as in the previous quarter, average salaries nevertheless increased in the third quarter in agriculture (by 8%), energy (7%), construction (6%) and decreased in the financial sector (by 7%), health care and social assistance system (by 6%), professional and scientific and technical activities (by 5%), compared to the second quarter.
However, the first place in terms of salaries still belongs to the sectors of information and communication – 35,885.7 lei; financial and insurance activity – 27,663.6 lei; production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning – 25,166.0 lei.
The outsiders of the labor market remain agriculture and forestry, fishing – 10 791,4 lei; accommodation and catering services – 10934,0 lei; art, recreation and leisure – 11 177,9 lei.
The average number of employees in the third quarter of 2025, as compared to the third quarter of 2024, increased by 1.4%. The most significant growth was registered in the following sectors of the economy: construction – by 10.6%; accommodation and catering activities – by 8.4%; extractive industry – by 7.6%.
