According to the press service of the agency, the details of the extended technical and institutional support under the newly launched project were discussed at the meeting of the Customs Service Director Radu Vrabie with the project management team.
The meeting discussed areas of potential cooperation: modernization of border crossing points, procurement of modern control equipment, increasing the interoperability of IT systems and optimization of operational procedures.
The project representatives noted that the list of concrete actions will be formed based on the needs identified by the beneficiaries and will contribute to the achievement of EU integration goals in the customs area.
The project aims at strengthening the national structures responsible for border and migration management and envisages harmonization of Moldovan procedures and infrastructure with Schengen and EU standards. Priorities include integrated border management, combating cross-border crime, modernization of infrastructure and digitalization of processes.
EU4Borders Security – Moldova with a budget of 4 million euros is being implemented by the Lithuanian Central Project Management Agency, the Polish Solidarity Fund and the International Organization for Migration. The implementation period is from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2028.
