Huseynov realized all his attempts, lifting three bars with a total weight of 594 kg. The world champion in the 107 kg category was Jiang Lu, who lifted 81 kg more than his Moldovan rival. Russia’s Alexey Golovan, competing in a neutral status, won the bronze medal (571 kg).
Stefan Rosca, represented in the weight category up to 97 kg, took the fourth place. He lifted a total weight of 531 kg, 25 kg short of the third place.
In the team medal standings, the Moldovan men’s para-powerlifting team shared the 15th place with Mongolia. China, Egypt and Iran are at the top of the list.
The World Championships in Cairo gathered about 540 athletes from 72 countries. The tournament was also one of the qualifying stages for the Summer Paralympic Games to be held in Los Angeles (USA) in 2028.
Logos Press reported earlier that Moldovan athlete Victoria Rotaru won a bronze medal at the Junior World Para Powerlifting Championships, which preceded the competition among adults.
