This weekend Moldova will celebrate the National Wine Day for the 24th time. The Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau will turn into a center of wine discoveries: 106 wineries, including 43 small producers, will invite guests for tastings, share wine stories and introduce authentic Moldovan traditions. This year, a record number of both large and small producers have confirmed their participation.
The event celebrates centuries-old winemaking traditions and allows to get acquainted with the flavors, culture and people that have made the Wine of Moldova a symbol of quality and national identity. The XXIV National Wine Day is held under the slogan of the country’s brand: “Wine of Moldova. Surprisingly delicious” (“Vinul Moldovei. Uimitor de bun”).
Stefan Yamandi, Director of the National Bureau of Grapes and Wine, said:
“National Wine Day is a unique opportunity to celebrate the legends and heritage of Moldovan winemaking, to showcase the achievements of Wine Moldova, to reward the best winemakers and to meet the people who create wine. This celebration not only promotes the Wine of Moldova, but also raises awareness of its quality, consumption culture and responsibility. We also continue to work on improving the visitor experience and protecting the environment.”
For the first time, the Tasting Notebook – a ticket for evaluating wines – will be available exclusively in digital format. This is a step towards convenience for visitors, reducing paper consumption and promoting the festival as a sustainable event.
The program of the XXIVth National Wine Day includes:
Wine School – master classes and tastings led by sommeliers and certified tasters;
Farmers‘ Courtyard – an area of folk crafts: carving, weaving, pottery and traditional dances;
Wine tours – an opportunity to discover the real Moldova through visits to wineries and vineyards outside the festival.
The event is organized by the National Bureau of Grapes and Wine. Partners: Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, Ministry of Culture, UMAEF (Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund), maib. Media partner – Logos Press newspaper.
