Moldovan and Ukrainian law enforcers have exposed a fraudulent scheme to take the money of Ukrainian citizens who ordered cars from the USA.
According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the organizers of the scheme created pages in social networks, where they advertised their services for the delivery of cars to order. They took an advance payment from the clients, and then money for additional unforeseen expenses related to the customs clearance of cars. Having received the money, the organizers of the “business” stopped contacting the buyers.
“It was established that organized the “auto business” 36-year-old citizen of Ukraine, who lived on the territory of the Republic of Moldova for several years. Now documented 5 episodes of criminal activity in the amount of more than 2 million hryvnia (about 800 thousand lei),” – reported in the prosecutor’s office.
Law enforcers detained him on the territory of Moldova. The man was reported on suspicion under Part 5 Article 190 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova. As part of the case, 14 searches were conducted in Ukraine and Moldova at the addresses of residence and in the cars of the defendants.
