Moldovan authorities to help promote the Gagauz language

This was said on June 19 at events on the protection and promotion of the Gagauz language in Comrat, attended by President Maia Sandu and Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun. “We discussed with a group of teachers how to improve the teaching of the Gagauz language in the autonomy’s institutions. A new training program for teachers who teach the Gagauz language in kindergartens was also announced during the meeting,” Maya Sandu said after the meeting.

The program will contribute to strengthening teachers’ pedagogical and linguistic skills in order to ensure effective teaching of the native language.

Thanks to this initiative, teachers who teach the Gagauz language in kindergartens in the region will have the opportunity to develop their teaching and communication skills in their native language during three months. The courses are organized by the Research Center of Gagauzia “M. V. Marunevich”, and upon completion, the participants will be tested and will receive certificates of completion issued by the Ministry of Education and Research.

It is noteworthy that the meeting took place in the theoretical lyceum “Mihai Eminescu” in Comrat – the only lyceum with teaching in Romanian language in the city, with more than 500 students. This is one of the most modern educational institutions, with investments of about 29 million lei in its infrastructure and equipment. Of these, about 11 million lei came from the state budget, and another 18 million lei were provided by the Romanian government.
