Demand for Ukrainian hryvnia falls in Moldova

The volume of currency transactions in Moldovan exchange offices increased by 14% and reached 400 million euros, - reports Logos Press.

Demand for Ukrainian hryvnia falls in Moldova

According to the National Bank of Moldova, the demand for the purchase of foreign currency for Moldovan lei in April increased by 20.6% – to 324 million euros, while the sales volume decreased by 7.5% – to 76 million euros.

At the same time, transactions with euros dominated the total turnover of foreign currency cash. They amounted to 308 million euros or 77% of the total turnover (up 19%).

The volume of transactions with the US dollar in April decreased by 6.2% to 56 million euros, accounting for 14% of the turnover.

Transactions with the Russian ruble revived, jumping by 5.3%. Such transactions grew to EUR 2 mln, taking 0.5% of the total turnover.

The demand for Romanian leu is still growing: its growth was at the level of 15%. The volume of such transactions reached 8.5 million euros, or 2% of the total turnover.

The purchase and sale of the Ukrainian hryvnia slumped strongly, decreasing by 25%. The volume of hryvnia did not exceed 0.6 million euros, which is only 0.2% of the total turnover.
