According to the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, last year the country exported 4.1 thousand tons of honey while producing 5 thousand tons. At the same time, due to a significant reduction in external honey supplies, Moldova still had a lot of honey production from previous years.
In the first quarter of this year, Moldova exported more than 500 tons of honey (from honey collection-2024). More than half of the mentioned volume of the product was supplied to Romania and Italy. The previous year 2023 in terms of Moldovan honey exports was a failure – just under 2 thousand tons.
On average, in the current five-year period, external supplies of honey from the Republic of Moldova fluctuated within 3 thousand tons.
