Media will be taught copyright law according to European standards

A training seminar on copyright law for media representatives will be held in Chisinau on May 15-16. European human rights defenders will share their experience in the context of the ongoing harmonization of Moldovan legislation with EU rules," Logos Press reported.

Media will be taught copyright law according to European standards

The seminar is organized by experts from the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the State Agency for Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) in close cooperation with the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) of the European Commission. The key EU directives on copyright and related rights, differences and peculiarities of the European approach will be presented.

Participants will have the opportunity to analyze and learn from online services in content management and sharing, collective management of copyright and related rights, and exceptions and limitations to copyright, with a focus on their application in Moldova.

The two-day discussions will address issues such as the right of public communication, multi-territorial licensing, retransmission rules and copyright limitations. Special attention will be paid to legal certainty, protection of the rights of content creators, rights-holders and users.

The media will tell how EU states address digital copyright issues, including remuneration for private copies, and regulate online content services. And also – what European standards of copyright and related rights protection have already been implemented.
